- layer 1: add dhal and 1 cup of water
Method

Add vegetables, ½ tablespoon sambhar powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp of tamarind paste ( or 1 inch of tamarind without any strings) pinch of asafoetida and 1 tbsp of water and mix

Close, fix weight and switch on the stove. Cook on high for 5 Whistles or 8 minutes,

Remove the PIP and mash the dhal ( if using fresh tamarind, add it to the dhal and mash well).

Add the contents of the PIP to the dhal, add required amount of water ( 1 to 1 ½ cups of water). Add chopped coriander leaves.
